Candidate's Statement

As Irvine residents, we enjoy and take pride in a city that is well-planned, clean, safe, offers excellent education, and sets an example for sustainability and environmental leadership.

High-quality schools, a safe environment and plenty of open space were some of the reasons why my family and I moved to Irvine in 1994, and we have lived in Woodbridge since 1996. I was born in Iran, but spent my childhood in Germany. I came to the Unites States over thirty years ago and obtained my Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and German Literature at UCSD and a Master’s degree in German Literature from UCI.

As Chairwoman of the Irvine Community Services Commission where I have served for the last three years, I have always pushed for expanding our local park system, enhancing services for children, families and seniors and bringing our community together. I have been privileged to witness through first-hand experience, the extraordinary commitment, diligence, and proactive approach that goes into maintaining the leadership role Irvine has earned as a model city.

I am running for an open seat on the Irvine City Council in 2010. I want to continue to serve our community and ensure that Irvine remains on the forefront of sound policy-making and intelligent planning. With a growing population of over 210,000 people, we need City Councilmembers with positive ideas, a proven record of accomplishment and a willingness to work hard, every day, to enhance the quality of our community.

I would be honored if the voters of Irvine elected me to the City Council to serve and represent them with a fresh perspective and a new voice. I pledge to serve with integrity and respect.
